This mystifies me. The amount of girls and women, some of them very old, who get this idea that a man must marry them no matter what, cause it is wrong to be single and left on the shelf and not have a man protect them and take care of them. It really gets me when the man is unemployed, penniless, has debts, no property and she says he is taking care of her - when she is the one working and providing him with a roof over his head.

Nothing wrong with want to get married, but what if you rush to get married for wrong reason and end up with totally wrong person because you impatient and not looking at it right? I've seen people do this. They want that big wedding day with the flowers, dress, big meal and presents, and don't look at the more important stuff.

Get married to a special person or just get married full stop?  If you mean marriage is the deal, not who is going to be the new person, gee that is dumb.  If you are young you will get so bored with this wrong person over the years and if you are old you should be more particular about who you spend those last years on.

Why is getting married the be all and end all of everything? Believe me it is just a piece of paper. Plenty of people change their mind after getting married. They will still leave or cheat if they want to, that piece of paper will not stop them. You need to look at what you can do about this, not rely on a piece of paper to do it for you. Make your partner happy. This idea that you can force a partner to be with you even if they change their mind and are miserable is very, very selfish and short sighted. It brings you no pleasure in the long run and it is cruel to them. People don't do such cruel things to those they care about. It proves you do not care about them one jot if you think it is ok to force them to be with you.
