I've been living alone for years, am getting old now. Would be nice to meet someone to live with but not holding my breath, anyway it is a good life I have the way it is already.  I love my work and go on holidays and have a lot of friends... and have two cats.

Living alone is swell. You have your comforts and things as you want them and prefer them. You can be alone when you wish, you can invite someone over when you do not wish. You can meditate, sit around in the nude, get up late, stay up very late without someone moaning if the tv is on, have music on, eat when you want, have lazy days, all to your tastes.

One thing I hated about being single and living alone and would not put up with was whenever I met unemployed people who were bored with a boring empty life they would expect to get my address off of me and then just turn up when bored and sit around here when bored.  I told them straight, seeing as they were virtual strangers, not even friends , not even acquaintances, that this place is not a drop in centre or bar, the whole point of me living alone is to be alone when I want, I have the disadvantage of having to pay out more money on rent and bills because I live alone, so I want the advantages of being alone when it suits me too.  Otherwise I would rent out my spare bedroom if I wanted others around regularly, not just have people come and go as if they live here but without contributing.  You will find if you live alone you get people trying to take advantage. I've lost count of the number of married men who have tried to pop in and get sexy with me since I've lived on my own.

Would not change it for the World. Tried marriage. Tried all the other types of relationships. Always go back to living alone and seeing people socially, not wanting to get serious or make promises or settle down for life with just one person who wants to hog all of my time.  If I go to pub and meet a smiley chick and want to chat her up I know I can without feeling guilty or having to try to hide it later. Might change my mind when I become very old though, could be a problem when very old and maybe not as fit as now, or worse, maybe housebound and needing help with stuff that is easy to do now. Maybe good idea to make sure you have a lot of younger fit friends too.

I tried living alone and hated it big time. Lonely, no support, no fun, lots of problems with nobody to help solve them, a lot more to pay out for living there as not sharing the costs, more housework and chores and crap if you are stuck at home ill.
