Has anyone else had any of this sort of problem, women only of course.  A total hysterectomy where their estrogen and other hormones plummet instantly, with a lot of health problems and symptoms following it quickly? What symptoms did you get, how did you cope etc?

My  mum had a total thingy, she was fine after. No problems at all. Though I don't know the reason it was done.

Maybe this is why my wife has been so grumpy lately

Yeah it can make you grumpy, thing is though that it is easy to do something about it.  When it happened to my sis and she said she thought it was her hormones she got some soya capsules and took one every day, within 24 hours she felt better, her mood, stress levels, energy ,  more relaxed,  less aches and pains, and more. She had a proper night's sleep for the first time in ages. She told me that she felt suicidal at times with how ill she felt and how nobody understood.

My sister had a hysterectomy,do not know what type, but she has been very depressed since it done. When it done she was told this could not happen because of her age! So much for that gem of wisdom.  She also gets aches and pains, trouble sleeping plus much more, no wonder she depressed. I sympathise with you, doctors do not seem to get it, they fob you off or pretend it is nothing and easy to accept and nothing they can do about it.

One of the things she told me which may be of help to you is that she refused to take any anti depressants because they can give you just as many or more side effects, with a lot of people they do not work anyway or they take ages to make a difference.   The one thing which put her off most though was that it can cause dementia.
