How do I get an advice columnist job here? Am a very kind and caring person, good listener, good at writing and good at spelling and tie pin. I am someone who is very smart and they would be lucky to get me advising them about their problems and situations and worrys. I want to be able to earn a lot of money quickly as ran up a big debt when I smashed up a car and over spent a lot on holiday earlier this year. My rent is high and difficult to process financially and my cleaner wants a pay rise.  An advice column job would be ideal for me as solution to my focus. Please give me the advises I need to do this here.

I will tell you how it was for me, hope that helps you.  I worked as a blog writer for a while and was not earning much. My main interest originally was working as a nurse. Then anything where I could help others. I live with my parents and my dad is sickly, very poorly, he needs a lot of help and time and extras, my mum relies on me to bring in the money to pay the bills, so I did not have the luxury of being able to get into nursing and being away from home doing long shifts and just bringing in a minimum amount. If things had been different I would have done down that route.  My writing was not paying much and becoming a problem financially. Then I saw that you can get an advice columnist job through this site, self employed and read about it on this page.

The thing is you need to read it properly and follow the instructions properly.  One of my friends, who had told me about this thing, she scanned it quick and joined the site but ignored the rest, then wondered why nothing happened. To be honest if she is that daft she would never be able to earn anything advising others.

I have been advertising on the directory to get paid work from people Worldwide for a bit and I enjoy it a lot. It sure is more fun than emptying bed pans and picking up old ladies to change their sheets. It makes me feel that the stuff I know helps others and I am not just a physical presence.

You can consult me through the advice columnist directory. ConsultmeforAdvice.   Honest Holly does consultations to help people who are starting out or need to improve or move further forward with it, but for me I just read the instructions and followed them.

One thing to remember too - you need to write a good profile. If you just put you are an advice columnist and charge such and such you won't get a lot of clients. You need to sound interesting, capable and better than the rest. I've already got a few regulars.

Another thing - don't get too friendly with clients. Don't let them phone you or get free emails in between the paid ones. If you let them they take advantage. I had one woman, no mention of names and details, who kept trying to do this, always wanting to just ask one thing, when she knew very well that was the service - that I charge for that service. You can be kind and caring without  letting people take advantage of you.And people should not be expecting to be able to take advantage of someone who is wise enough to sell advice.

I have things quite good now, able to be at home helping mum more, no wasting time and money on travelling or long night shifts.

I would imagine you follow the instructions given in the article. Also, you say you have a cleaner yet you’re struggling for money? Simple solution, get rid of the cleaner and do it yourself, that will save you some money.

How can anyone who cannot see that they cannot afford a cleaner if they are struggling for money ever make a good agony aunt themselves? Are they blind or just desperate for money and hoping to con people into paying them for rubbish advice? To be honest that comes across as desperate, very selfish, short sighted, mean and greedy.

It always gets me how people pop up out of the woodwork insisting they can be agony aunts getting paid to do an advice columnist job. When they cannot sort out their own lives and rely on other people for money, a job, a relationship situation, advice etc. Fakes.  If you are really able to help others with advice you are also able to sort out your own things and you would never be that desperate for a job you  cannot get one or have to make do with a boring or badly paid one  - never mind getting a lot of money to do an advice columnist job!   . As for those who come here saying they are professional agony aunts, really? So your life is perfect then, because otherwise you could never get paid work to advise others, not honestly, truly, and deliver the goods. I've got a friend who said she would become a professional here. She lives in a small grotty room in the worst part of town, she cannot get any job at all, yet all of a sudden she reckons she can earn a lot of money per hour advising people, she is a dreamer and a fake. She got in trouble for not paying her rent for three weeks.  She is hardly someone able to help others doing an advice columnist job.

So true. My uncle recently had a guy apply for a job as a driver. It turned out this guy could not drive and had never had a driving lesson or licence. He expected my uncle to hire him anyway over all of the guys who could drive!! And he expected my uncle to pay for his lessons in the hope that he would turn out a good worker and stay later. How nuts and one sided.

Yes I agree. Jobs that pay a lot do not grow on trees and they pay a lot because they need to be picky about who they hire not because they are generous and wanting to splash out a lot of cash on no hopers. We have a woman who lives near us who advertises her services as a weight loss consultant. She weighs about 30 stone! People laugh at her. Nobody takes her seriously. Likewise if you cannot get a boyfriend or cannot sort out your marriage or cannot get a normal ordinary job you are hardly in a position to get well paid to advise others.
